Visual identity & design for Chicago’s Distasteful Tastemakers

Gritty History
Dark, gritty imagery is a common theme used throughout the brand as a way to pay homage to Chicago’s underground facets and it’s rich history of the Prohibition. The overall crusty nature embodies the inevitability of the ever-changing, midwest mecca.
Distasteful Tastemakers
Cult Runner is a collective of creatives influenced by the counter and subcultures of Chicago who stand out by not fitting in. They thrive off design and remaining conceptual and pride themselves on not being the trend chasers, exploiters, or hustlers of fads.
Raise some Hell
Chicago is a hell of a city for many reasons. It’s a little rougher around the edges and hell-bent on having the best food, booze, culture, and creative scene. Cult Runner expressed this in a series of shirts, with a nod to the metal and hardcore punk world.
Branded Bits
Print collateral was designed to keep the brand narrative strong even with the smaller, often overlooked pieces. Simple pieces are elevated with "tastemakers" artwork and details printed with a bone-white & black card stocks.
